Peter King on Jeff Fisher’s decision, chances Peyton will go to Jets

Sports Illustrated’s Peter King joined guest host Bonnie Bernstein to talk about the big stories around the NFL.

Bonnie asked King if Jeff Fisher should go to St. Louis or Miami. King said he thinks he’ll probably choose Miami, but he should go to St. Louis.

“In Miami you don’t have a franchise, long-term quarterback,” King said. “You don’t have a way of getting one this year. You don’t have a way to get one.”

King said that the Rams have a lot of advantages — quarterback Sam Bradford, tons of salary-cap space and the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s draft.

King thinks that the Dolphins have been “all-in” on Fisher. “They badly want Fisher,” King said. “If they don’t get him, they’ll turn to their Plan B. They’ve looked at Cincy defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and other coaches.”

King thinks St. Louis would dip down into the unknown ranks if it doesn’t get Fisher.

Bonnie asked King who are some people out there who may turn into NFL head coaches. King likes Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, noting he’s connected to Bill Belichick and has done a great job in his current job. King also noted TCU coach Gary Patterson.

Bonnie asked King if there’s any chance Peyton would go to the New York Jets. King said Peyton is workman-like and wouldn’t want a circus. But King said if the Colts part ways with Manning, and Peyton wants to play elsewhere, he could go to New York. King noted Brett Favre didn’t want to go to New York, but the Jets convinced them.
