Ian Thomsen says D’Antoni and ‘Melo just couldn’t co-exist
Sports Illustrated’s Ian Thomsen joined guest host Chris Mannix to talk about the trade deadline and more.
Thomsen weighed in on Mike D’Antoni and said that the decision for him and the Knicks to part ways was probably close to mutual. And he said that D’Antoni and Carmelo Anthony don’t work together.
“I think it’s just basketball-wise that Carmelo is the one guy in the whole league that Mike’s ever coached that can’t conform to that offense,” D’Antoni said.
Thomsen said he’s looked at every player ever under D’Antoni and they’ve always thrived.
