NY Times’ Pete Thamel breaks down the Brackets

New York Times college sports writer Pete Thamel joined the show to talk about the NCAA Tournament. Here are some of his takes.

— Thamel said that like Mannix, he likes Detroit’s talent, and thinks No. 2 seed Kansas has a very tough draw.

— Thamel thinks Syracuse is vulnerable. “They were a poor rebounding team wiht Fab Melo,” Thamel said. But they’ll still miss him defensively. Thamel said that they could run into trouble against Vanderbilt if they make the Sweet 16.

— Thamel said that things could open up really well for Florida State.

— Thamel has UNLV in the Elight Eight. “They’re very talented,” Thamel said. “They have an elite athleticism level.”

— Thamel said it’s hard ot bet against Tom Izzo. “He is the single-best NCAA Tournament coach of our generation,” Thamel said.
