Seth Davis on Jared Sullinger, Kendall Marshall and Kentucky-Louisville

Sports Illustrated’s Seth Davis joined the show to talk about the NCAA Tournament.

Davis talked about all the big-time NBA prospects who are in the Final Four, and said don’t forget about Ohio State’s Jared Sullinger. “Sullinger is a dominant player,” Davis said. “People look at a player and see everything he’s not. But Sullinger’s repeated ability to the get to the free-throw line was the key to that game.”

Dan asked Davis why NBA teams jump all over these freshmen. “Scouts and NBA teams draft more on potential,” Davis said. “The more you stick around, the more chance they have to pick at your flaws.

Davis also commented on Kendall Marshall’s injury. Davis said there is a valid argument UNC might have won with him. But Davis did say certain guys stepped up.

Davis talked about how big playing Kentucky is for Louisville. He’s not sure winning the title means as much as beating the Wildcats. Davis also said Louisville has had an incredible run to get here. And now Kentucky has a lot of pressure because everyone expects the ‘Cats to win it all.

Davis said the tension between John Calipari and Rick Pitino is all about ego, and that coaches create bad guys to motivate themselves and their teams.

Davis likes Kentucky over Kansas in the title game.
