Don Mattingly comments on Dodgers’ new ownership, team’s under-radar pursuit of Prince Fielder

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly joined the show to talk about the sale of the team.

Mattingly is excited about the new ownership group led by Magic Johnson. “It gives us that direction at the top,” Mattingly said. “They’re going to be driving the organization. I don’t think there’s any doubt.”

Dan asked how chaotic it had become under Frank McCourt. “There was so much going on in Mr. McCourt’s life, it didn’t seem like baseball was a big part of it.”

Mattingly said that behind-the-scenes the Dodgers made a run at Prince Fielder. Mattingly said that the Dodgers got very close and the whole time they kept it under the radar.

Mattingly said his expectations are a little higher this year, because they have Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp.
