Kevin Ding breaks down Lakers’ final shot in loss to Thunder

Orange County Register Lakers reporter Kevin Ding joined the show to talk about L.A.’s Game 2 loss to the Thunder.

Ding broke down the last play. He said that the Lakers were trying to get Kobe a shot on the last play. But Metta World Peace’s pass to Steve Blake made sense in that situation because Russell Westbrook turned to look at Kobe.

Ding said that the Lakers are not the team they used to be and they have a smaller margin of error.

“I’m not sure the Lakers are that confident with where they are at,” Ding said.

Ding thinks that Lakers coach Mike Brown’s job is safe unless Phil Jackson comes out and says he wants back in. “The Lakers didn’t expect to win the title this year,” Ding said. Ding claims if they wanted to keep Phil Jackson’s system in place, they could have just hired Brian Shaw.

Ding said Magic Johnson’s report that Brown was in trouble did not reflect reality, and added the Lakers weren’t happy about it.
