Jeremy Roenick explains devastating penalty that helped Kings win Cup

NBC NHL analyst Jeremy Roenick joined guest host Chris Mannix to talk about the Los Angeles Kings’ championship.

Roenick weighed in on the five-minute major on the Devils’ Steve Bernier that led to three Kings’ goals. Roenick didn’t have a problem with the call. He said if you can see a player’s numbers “you have to pull up, plain and simple.”

Roenick said the Kings played in unison better, had a better gameplan and worked harder.

Roenick also commented on Kings goalie Jonathan Quick. “Watching Jonathan Quick, the way he plays and his styles, he has quickly risen to the top of the charts,” Roenick said.

Mannix asked Roenick if the Kings were the favorite for next season. Roenick said he thinks so because of the goaltender.

Roenick commented on Devils goalie Martin Brodeur and his future. He said Brodeur will likely not play anywhere else besides New Jersey and he expects him back.

Roenick said he expects Sydney Crosby to play part of the season next year, but he hopes he plays the whole season.
