Jim Riggleman on Billy Hamilton urban legend, Strasburg decision

Pensacola Blue Wahoos manager and former Nationals skipper Jim Riggleman joined the show to talk about his star player Billy Hamilton, who just set the minor league record for stolen bases.

Riggleman said that there is truth to the urban myth Hamilton caught a ball “on or near” the warning track from shortstop. Riggleman explained that the leftfielder lost the ball in the lights.

Riggleman explained that Hamilton is still learning how to switch-hit and he’s getting on base at an impressive rate. Riggleman said Hamilton is going to be a Major Leaguer.

Riggleman also weighed in on the Nationals sitting Stephen Strasburg. He said that the same strategy worked with Jordan Zimmerman and he gets it.

Dan asked Riggleman about his decision to play hard ball with the Nationals, which ended up costing him his job. He said looking back, it may not have been the smart decision, but it was the right decision.
