Howie Long on replacement officials, mobile QBs, Hall of Fame nominees

FOX NFL analyst Howie Long joined the show to talk about the big stories around the League.

Long weighed ion the lasting effect of the replacement officials. He said there are so few games in the NFL, that one game is huge.

Long talked about mobile quarterbacks. He said that the perfect mobile quarterback is Steve Young or Aaron Rodgers — guys with their eyes downfield looking to make plays. Those are the guys that wear out the defense. But Long has concern about a guy like Robert Griffin III who is taking too many hits. He said that they shouldn’t design plays where RGIII gets hit.

Dan asked Long about the new Hall of Fame nominees. Long said his FOX coworker Michael Strahan is a Hall of Famer “no question.” Long also thinks Warren Sapp is a Hall of Famer. He also said that Larry Allen “was as dominant a player at his position for that run they had as there was in football.”

Dan and Long debated whether kickers should be in the Hall of Fame. He said that Adam Vinatieri definitely belongs.
