Mike D'Antoni talks about how he landed Lakers job
Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni talks about his new job and how he plans to coach all these stars.
D’Antoni explained that he knew Phil Jackson was in the picture. He said he told friends not to get carried away.
D’Antoni said he had knee replacement surgery and wasn’t expecting to coach. “I wasn’t at all. This is the only job I [would have taken],” D’Antoni said. “When the Lakers call with the guys they have, you don’t hesitate.”
D’Antoni said that he’ll adapt his style to the players. “It might not be 7 second or less,” D’Antoni said. “All we’re worried about is will it be 24 seconds or less.”
D’Antoni said that his job is to bring out the talent of the guys he’s coaching.
