Chris Mannix: Phil Jackson wants to be wanted

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix joined the show to talk about the Nets courting Phil Jackson and more.

Mannix weighed in on what Jakson wants here. “He wants to be courted,” Mannix said. “He wants to be loved. He wants everyone to want him.”

Mannix said that Jackson didn’t necessarily even want to coach … he was probably more interested in being a front-office guy. “He didn’t have the high level in coaching full time any more,” Mannix said.

Mannix also weighed in on the Los Angeles Clippers’ success. He said the second unit has been the key – specifically Jamal Crawford.

But Mannix said that the Clippers have a question mark on the sideline with head coach Vinny Del Negro. Mannix isn’t sure that Del Negro can beat a more established coach deep in the playoffs.

Mannix was at Amar’e Stoudemire’s return last night and said the Knicks might have to worry. He said they need a low-post presence and he’s not sure Stoudemire can provide that.
