Tony Dungy says he's been contacted by third parties, but not interested in NFL jobs

NBC NFL analyst Tony Dungy joined guest host Chris Mannix to talk about wild-card weekend and the coaching carousel.

Mannix asked if he’s been contacted by a team with a coaching vacancy. “I’ve had people be remotely interested,” Dungy said. “They’ve been third parties. I haven’t been contacted directly. Indirectly, a couple of them.”

Mannix asked his level of interest in an NFL head-coaching job. “Zero,” Dungy said.

Dungy said that he talked to Chip Kelly last night and he was still thinking about it. But Dungy sensed that it’s going to be “difficult to leave Oregon.” Dungy thinks that Kelly will be fired up to return if he chooses to go that way.

Dungy weighed in on the injuries to Christian Ponder and RGIII. He said as a coach you let the doctor decide and try to weigh everything for what is best for the team.

Dungy said that Griffin clearly wasn’t the same as the Redskins game was going on, but he can see a coach thinking that RGIII might get it back.

Dungy looked ahead at next weekend’s matchups. He said that Baltimore and Houston are going to have a tough time.
