R.A. Dickey says AL East much harder on pitchers

Toronto Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey (@RADickey43) joined the show to talk about coming over from the Mets and some of his early struggles.

Dan asked what the difference is between the NL and AL. Dickey said about two runs on his ERA. “It’s a hitters league,” Dickey said. “Especially in the AL East. You have smaller ballparks and two of the best hitting clubs in baseball are in the AL East.”

Dan asked the difference with the media in New York and Toronto. “It’s probably about 50 percent less than New York,” Dickey said. He said there are less reporters in the clubhouse and less ridiculous headlines in the papers.

Dickey also have very interesting comments on knuckleballs. He said it’s a good pitch for young pitchers to learn and there’s not as much wear and tear as people think.
