Matt Ryan talks about new extension, looks back at Championship Game loss

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan joined the show to talk about signing a five-year extension that could be worth over $100 million.

Dan asked Ryan where he thinks he stands among the top NFL quarterbacks. “Right up there,” Ryan said. “I’m certainly confident in my ability. Through the course of the last five years when you look back at what we’ve done, we’ve been right in the mix. …. It’s impossible to put your finger on ranking guys 1 … 2 … 3  …. 4 …. 5. But I think I’m right in the mix.”

Ryan also looked back at their NFC Championship Game loss to the Niners. He said they watched some cut-ups of the game this morning and he’s watched the whole thing.

Dan asked if he wished he had done anything different, possibly going to an open Tony Gonzalez in the end zone, on his final pass, which fell incomplete. “Hindsight is 20-20,” Ryan said. “When you watch it, ya, definitely [I would have gone to Gonzalez]. The way we had it set up, no, I think I went to the right side from the pre-snap look we had. That happens as a quarterback.”
