Hines Ward talks about reputation as dirty player, previews NFL season

NBC analyst and former Steelers great Hines Ward joined the show to talk about his reputation as a player and to look at the big stories around the NFL.

Ward admitted that he read scouting reports and looked for injuries. If he found one, he’d focus on it. “Needless to say I’m circling that,” Ward said. “I’m cut-blocking all the time. That’s how I got to be considered one of the dirtiest players.”

Ward said there’s nothing wrong with cut-blocking and it’s not like defenders were going to take it easy on him. “I always took the approach I’m going to hit you before you hit me,” Ward said.

Ward also looked at the teams he liked and didn’t like and had very interesting comments on the Dallas Cowboys. He said they look good on paper, but can’t get over the hump. He said Tony Romo is a great regular-season QB, but …. “When things are on the line, he’s bound to make a mistake.”
