Lane Kiffin says Marqise Lee could be USC’s best defensive player

USC coach Lane Kiffin joined the show to talk about some of the big stories affecting the team before the season.

Kiffin told Dan he’s not ready to name his starting quarterback yet. “We would have liked that to be done a long time ago,” Kiffin said, “but both guys have performed so well it’s made it a hard decision which is a good thing.”

Kiffin also had very interesting comments on his star receiver Marquise Lee: “Awesome person. Great person. I just wish we had more of him. I think he’d be our best defensive player too. … We’ve messed around at him at corner. “

Kiffin said until someone knocks off Stanford, the Cardinal is the team to beat in the Pac-12.

Dan asked Kiffin where he ranks the Pac-12 in terms of national conferences. “I think it sits at No.2,” Kiffin said, “And I don’t think there’s much argument there.”

Kiffin also acknowledged that he recruited UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley: “We did. We took the two guys that are in the competition now that same year so obviously we weren’t going to take three but we did know about him and we knew he was a really good player.”
