Clay Travis said lesson from Manziel is “get paid in cash”

Outkickthecoverage.com’s Clay Travis joined the show to talk about Johnny Manziel and the beginning of the college football season.

Travis said the NCAA’s half-game suspension is about as light as they could go.

“The real lesson for big time college football and basketball players is get paid in cash,” Travis said.

Travis said there’s also a lot of concern about the other star players who have signatures out there. He said that if they gave Manziel a stiffer penalty then it would “incentivize” other people to turn in big stars.

Travis also looked ahead to the season. He said watch out for unranked Baylor. He also said even though Miami is ranked, the Hurricanes are a bit of a darkhorse. And also Nebraska, who has an easy schedule and could start at 8-0.

Dan asked Travis to paint a scenario where Alabama doesn’t win the title. He said 1) Manziel leads Texas A&M past them. 2) A.J. McCarron gets hurt. 3) The SEC title game — the Tide almost lost to Georgia in that game last year.
