Archie Manning on how he came to do documentary on family, sons’ reaction to film

Archie Manning joined the show to talk about the documentary “Book of Manning” and more.

Manning said that when Peyton got injured, he backed out of the project. But his wife Olivia said that he should do it. Then he just handed over his old family films and the producer took it from there.

Archie said that his mother was still alive, he may not have shared about his father’s suicide.

Archie said the toughest part to talk about was Cooper’s injury. Dan asked if Cooper wasn’t hurt and had to drop out of football at Mississippi, would Peyton have gone there. “Yeah, probably so,” Manning said. “They really liked playing together. … They were that close. They worked out a lot together, played together a lot. … I know they had these plans.”

Archie described his sons’ reaction to the documentary: “Eli said it’s good. Peyton said there’s about seven thigns in there we need to change.
