C.J. Wilson: Putting substances on balls kind of gross

Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson (@str8edgeracer) joined the show to talk about Michael Pineda getting booted from a game for using pine tar.

Dan asked Wilson where pine tar should go. “On a bat, or on a pine tar rag,” Wilson said. “Not on your neck.”

Wilson said rosin can do some things when you add moisture. But he pointed out that it’s pretty gross if you’re a germ-a-phobe … like Wilson is sometimes.

Wilson commented on teammate Albert Pujols hitting his 500th home run. He said the night air in Anaheim is not kind to pull hitters. Wilson said that time off last year acted like a time machine.

Dan asked Wilson if he’d rather have Derek Jeter’s life on the field or off the field. Wilson said being one of the all-time hit leaders is a bigger deal to him than the off-field conquests.

Wilson had funny comments on Yankee Stadium. He said once he was doing batting practice there and he was hitting it into the second row. Wilson said sometimes outs become home runs.

Dan asked him the longest home run someone’s ever hit off him – it was Jeff Francoeur and it went off into the Arizona afternoon.
