Jody Oehler and Mike “MJ” Jurecki fill in this week
Friday’s guests: David Ross, Joel Corry

Mark Messier joined the show to talk about the Kings-Rangers series and more.

Messier talked about his early childhood relationship with Wayne Gretzky and asking his dad if Gretzky was better than him. Messier said that his dad hemmed and hawed and said, let’s go to practice. But Messier feels that Gretzky is the best player of all time.

Messier also talked about the 1994 Stanley Cup and how it’s still a huge deal in New York.

And Messier weighed in on Slapshot and said it’s still the “gold standard.” He said he actually played against some of the guys who played the goons on the other team.

Andrew Perloff @andrewperloffDerrick Jones Jr. vs. Glenn Robinson III in #SlamDunkContest final is not quite Jordan vs. Nique. Close. But not quite.13 hours ago
