Adrian Wojnarowski on future of Carmelo, K-Love, LeBron

Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski joined the show to talk about NBA free agency and this week’s Draft.

— Woj said that Carmelo Anthony never really considered opting in on his contract. He said that doesn’t necessarily mean that Anthony will leave, because he’d leave a lot of money on the table by exiting the Knicks: “My sources have told me all along he’s leaning toward leaving, but that’s different then he’s decided to leave.”

Woj said that Phil Jackson may say he doesn’t care that much if Anthony leaves, but it’s not easy to land big names in free agency. He said that a star isn’t going to go into New York alone — “they need ‘Melo to attract free agents.”

— Woj thinks that the T-Wolves wouldn’t trade Kevin Love for just the No. 7 pick. “Minnesota wants Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes,” Woj said. He said Denver would do a deal for just one year, hoping they could re-sign him. Woj thinks it’s most likely that he’ll stay with Minnesota through the Draft.

“Flip Saunders believes he can coach this team into the playoffs,” Woj said. “And maybe he can keep Love to [stay].”

— Woj commented on Pat Riley’s outspoken press conference. Woj said Riley knows his audience. “In the end, I think they all opt-in for one more year,” Wojnarowski said.
