Chip Kelly says USC ‘most talented’ team in nation, coaches shouldn’t vote in polls

Oregon coach Chip Kelly joined the show to talk about the upcoming season.

Dan asked Kelly his thoughts on the competition in the Pac-12 this year. “I think USC is the most talented team in the country,” Kelly said.

Dan asked if that means they’re the best team. “I don’t know about that,” Kelly said. “That’s why they play the games.”

Dan asked Kelly how he reacted when he heard Matt Barkley was returning to college instead of going to the NFL. “I did it with Andrew Luck and I did it with Matt Barkley,” Kelly said. “I threw up. Someone needs to tell them [they] have to go.”

Kelly also explained to Dan why he doesn’t think coaches should vote in the polls. “I don’t watch enough football,” Kelly said.

Then Dan asked about possible NCAA sanctions for Oregon. “I really don’t know,” Kelly said.

Dan asked if the threat of NCAA punishment affects the way he runs his program. “Doesn’t affect us in any shape or form,” Kelly said.

Kelly said he ran with the bulls this summer. Dan asked how close he got to a bull. “Arms length,” Kelly said. Kelly said there was a guy there wearing a Jets “Tebow” jersey.
