Theo Esptein on hiring Maddon, state of Cubs
Cubs GM Theo Epstein joined the show to talk about hiring Joe Maddon and more.
Epstein talked about how they landed Maddon. When Maddon’s agent emailed Epstein and said he was on the open market, Epstein didn’t believe it at first and called MLB.
Epstein talked about how hard it was to let manager Rick Renteria. “We had to do the right thing for the Cubs,” Epstein said. “But at the same time we realized [it wasn’t right.]”
Epstein says that from a competitive standpoint players probably prefer to play at night because of their natural rhythm, but he loves having day games at Wrigley Field.
