Rory McIlroy on potential rivalry with Spieth
Rory McIlroy joined the show to talk about his dominant performance at Quail Hollow and a potential rivalry with Jordan Spieth.
“If you look at some of the other sports and some of the other rivalries,” McIlroy said. “Rafa and Roger … they made each other better. Phil made Tiger better. It inspired me to see what Jordan did at Augusta. It inspired me to have a little intensity, a little edge.”
McIlroy also had a very interesting take on golfer being in better shape: “If more golfer look athletic,” McIilroy said, “it looks better for the game. Maybe it encourages their parents to get into golf as well.”
And McIlroy said drinking some beers on the course is OK, but plaid pants are a no-go.
