Pierre McGuire: Blackhawks are NHL’s national team
NBC NHL analyst Pierre McGuire joined the show to talk about the Stanley Cup Final and more.
McGuire expects a fast, physical series and thinks it will go six games. “Chicago is definitely our national team in the NHL,” McGuire said. “Pittsburgh used to be that team.” He compared him to the Packers or Yankees. He said they’re a team the nation can rally around. But McGuire thinks that Tampa can become a team like that.
McGuire talked about Lighting goalie Ben Bishop and how goalies are getting bigger around the NHL. He said that’s one of the reason the NHL has less scoring. That and advanced training for goalies. McGuire says that you may need to raise the crossbar to increase scoring.
