Tony Gonzalez: Jimmy Graham still great, just in different system
Future Hall of Famer and CBS analyst Tony Gonzalez joined the show to talk about the big storylines in the NFL.
Gonzalez said it’s silly for the Seahawks to ask Jimmy Graham to block. He said Graham hasn’t gotten worse, he’s just in a new system.
But in general, he thinks tight ends should block. “As the nostalgic old school guy,” Gonzalez said, “back in my day, you had to block. Otherwise, call it a different position.”
Gonzalez believes that tight ends deserve to be paid like big-time playmakers. Dan asked who should be paid more, Julio Jones or Rob Gronkowski. Gonzo said maybe Jones, but not by much.
Gonzalez also weighed in on Antonio Gates. He said if we definitely know he was cheating, he’s not as impressed with his numbers. But Gonzalez said that there’s still some unknown about what he took.
