Bill Simmons on departure from ESPN, plans for future

Bill Simmons joined the show to talk about his love for LSU’s Ben Simmons and his future in broadcasting.

Dan asked Simmons what role our show played in him leaving ESPN. Simmons said the relationship was probably coming to an end and it wasn’t necessarily criticism of Roger Goodell on the Dan Patrick Show.

Dan asked about his plans at HBO. “I’m launching a TV show,” Simmons said. “I’m going to get heavily involved in the HBO Now side. I’m heavily involved in the HBO documentary side.”

Simmons also went in depth on his man-crush for Ben Simmons. He said he’s always wanted a guy named Simmons on his team and compared the talented freshman to Larry Bird in terms of passing. Simmons’ Celtics have a shot to get him because they have the Nets’ draft pick this season.
