Tony Dungy on Manning, Caldwell, why he’d take Griffin over Luck

NBC NFL analyst Tony Dungy joined the show to talk about the drama in Indianapolis.

Dan asked Dungy what will happen with Peyton Manning. “It all really depends on how Peyton comes along in the next few weeks and how the rehab goes,” Dungy said.

Dungy, however, said that if Peyton can go, there’s no question which direction they’ll go. “If he’s cleared to play, he’s going to be the quarterback of the Colts,” Dungy said. “It’s going to be just like the Aaron Rodgers deal (in Green Bay).”

Dungy pointed out that the three quarterbacks dominating the NFL right now are Drew Brees, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers and none of them were No. 1 overall. “I don’t know that you have to have the can’t miss guy,” Dungy said. He said that they might go through the evaluation and take Lucky, but Dungy said that’s no guarantee at this point.

Dungy also weighed in on the future of head coach Jim Caldwell. “I think Jim Caldwell is going to be the head coach next year,” Dungy said.

Dungy talked draft as well. He said he likes Robert Griffin III over Andrew Luck because of his running ability. Dungy pointed out Aaron Rodgers is the most dangerous quarterback in the NFL because of his running ability.
