Charles Barkley said NBA had bounties, says Lakers should pursue Howard

TNT’s Charles Barkley joined the show to talk about the big stories in the NBA and more.

Barkley weighed in on bounties. He said they had bounties in the NBA. He cited a player who was taking out a player who hit threes against them during a blowout. Barkley said that his team paid $5,000 to take him out.

Barkley has an issue with the story coming out. “You have to be a punk to snitch that out,” Barkley said. “That’s like giving a reporter an anonymous quote.”

Barkley also said that Brett Favre was “annoying” by the time the Saints came after him in the NFC title game.

Barkley also talked about the upcoming NBA trade deadline. Barkley said the Lakers should give up either Andrew Bynum or Pau Gasol to get Dwight Howard.

“If you get Dwight Howard, you’re going to be a contender for the next 10 years,” Barkley said.

Barkley thinks the Orlando Magic can’t risk holding on to Howard. “They can’t let him leave as a free agent,” Barkley said. “They’d be at the bottom of the barrel.”
