Tom Verducci breaks down Marlins-Jays trade

Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci joined the show to talk about the Jays-Marlin trade and the MLB awards.

“They built a plan they needed to get fans involved in South Florida,” Verducci siad. “They knew if it didn’t work, they could pull the plug immediately.”

Verducci noted they had no no-trade clauses and backloaded the contracts. They were ready for this.

Verducci said that the Marlins may have done well in baseball terms. Pitcher Josh Johnson hasn’t come back health-wise. And Jose Reyes is very expensive.

Verducci said he’s not sure that the Blue Jays did that well, because they take on a lot of risk.
