Dave Zirin on Roy Hibbert, and athletes’ social responsibility
The Nation’s Dave Zirin joined the show to talk about his column stating the NBA should suspend Roy Hibbert.
Zirin said that he continued to think about the topic as the day went on and he thinks the NBA should have used this as an opportunity to make a bigger program to fight homophobia.
Zirin talked about athletes’ political responsibility. He said that athletes are speaking out now more than they were in the 1990s. But it’s always been an uncomfortable thing for some athletes.
