Victor Cruz explains angry Tweet after Zimmerman verdict; relationship with Jay-Z
Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz (@TeamVic) joined the show to talk about his Tweet after the George Zimmerman verdict and signing a new deal with New York.
Cruz explained why he sent a Tweet claiming “Zimmerman doesn’t last a year before the hood catches up with him.”
Cruz said, “In the moment, I was a little angry. As a father you think of [what] if that was your son. You want some sort of justice. …. We thought there was no way he wouldn’t get something. We wanted some sort of repercussion for a little boy passing away.”
But Cruz acknowledged he would have been wise to wait and agreed with Dan’s idea that having someone help edit potentially controversial Tweets isn’t a bad idea.
Cruz also explained his relationship with Jay-Z. He said that he calls Jay-Z whenever something marketing-related comes up.
Dan asked what would have happened if four years ago someone had told him he would have Jay-Z’s number and could call him whenever he wants. Cruz said he wouldn’t have believed it – “that would be physically impossible.”cruz
