Friday: Reggie Miller

New Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis joined guest host Chris Mannix to explain why he’s leaving his role as an analyst to rejoin the team.

Rambis said that he went to lunch with Mike D’Antoni and expected to just talk hoops. But quickly D’Antoni offered him a job on his staff.”A little bit shocking,” Rambis said. “But I said yes almost immediately.”

Mannix asked if some of the criticism Rambis put on the team last year was an issue. Rambis said he didn’t really think about it, but he did think that the team wasn’t doing some things they should have been able to do last year. Rambis explained that he will focus primarily on the defense.

Rambis said he believes the Lakers are going to reassess Kobe Bryant at the end of August.
