Bob Costas clarifies remarks on Redskins on Sunday Night Football

NBC broadcaster Bob Costas joined the show to talk about his halftime piece on the name Redskins.

“My point was that this is not about a political correctness,” Costas said. “If you take a step back and think about what the equivalent of Redskins would be if applied to another ethnic group, you have to think about it another way.”

Costas said he didn’t think Washington owners Daniel Snyder means any offense with the name, but that doesn’t change the fact that the name is offensive to some.

Costas also looked back at the reaction to his statements on guns last season. “It was not about gun control,” Costas said. “It was about the proliferation of guns among athletes.”
