David Robinson would start team with Duncan over Jordan

Hall of Famer David Robinson joined the show to talk about his Spurs winning the NBA title and more.

Dan asked when he knew Tim Duncan was great. “Right away,” Robinson said. Robinson said he played him as part of an Olympic trial and was surprised how good he was.

Robinson said if he could start a team, he’d go with Duncan over Michael Jordan, in part because big men are so hard to find. “Tim is every bit the assassin Michael was,” Robinson said.

Robinson talked about Jordan’s trash talk. He said he did it to everyone and it started the first time he met Jordan. Jordan told him he was going to dunk on him — and sometimes he did, but Robinson said he blocked many of them.

Robinson talked about why there are no big men coming into the NBA. He said part of it is tall players wanting to shoot outside. He noted his son, a 6-7 17-year-old, keeps drifting out to the three-point line and Robinson is like “why would you do that?”
