Verducci: Sitting out Yom Kippur easy decision for Koufax 50 year ago

Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci joined the show to talk about the top MLB storylines. Here are some of the topics Verducci hit on:

— Verducci talked about Sandy Koufax not pitching on Yom Kippur 50 years ago. Verducci said that it wasn’t a hard decision for Koufax. The Dodgers went with Don Drysdale for Game 1 of the World Series against the Twins.

— Verducci talked about limiting starting pitchers. He said that Matt Harvey is different than Stephen Strasburg. He said that Strasburg is a different case because he also has mechanical issues.

— Verducci’s Cy Young right now are the Dodgers’ Zach Greinke and Houston’s Dallas Keuchel (with David Price closing in).

— Verducci’s MVPs are the Nationals’ Bryce Harper and the Angels’ Mike Trout (edging the Blue Jays’ Josh Donaldson).

— Verducci said the Cubs will be hard to beat in a one-game wild card because of Jake Arrieta.
